After living with my parents for 8 months we finally moved into our newbuild home in March 2016. We had our own space back! It had been such a long journey but totally worth it. We decided to buy a newbuild home in May 2015. It was such an exciting process from start to finish. Choosing the layout, our selections day, becoming obsessed with pintrest once more. Once a week we would drive up to the site and have sneaky look round our new house. It was amazing to see how different it would change from week to week.
Our selections day was so exciting. It was a long day of choices and planning but at the end of it we could start to imagine what our house would look like. We had already had a pre selections appointment so had a vague idea of what we wanted. I felt this was important to do as it can be quite daunting. Our developer ‘Beal Homes’ offered such a vast variety of options that i wanted them all! At the time i had an obsession for all things sage green. I had my heart set on a sage green island in the kitchen. We wanted fitted wardrobes in the master bedroom to maximise the space and hide away the TV.
Our house type was called ‘The Haxby’. It wasn’t the one we originally wanted but this one was to ready 5 months quicker so we drove over to Hull to have a look at the show home. We immediately fell in love with layout. Although the downstairs isn’t open plan it flows really well. It gave us a great size kitchen and lounge.
Whilst the house was being built we had to move in with my parents. We had to have sold our old house in order to reserve the plot. It wasn’t all that bad to begin with. No more weekly food shops, only one room to clean (I’m a clean freak but my mums even worse), tea on the table everyday. But after 4 months or so it began to be quite claustrophobic. Being confined to our bedroom most evenings in order for us to have our own space was becoming really annoying. Don’t get me wrong i love my parents but theres nothing like your own space, especially when we’d already had it.
As the house developed the excitement heightened and we just couldn’t wait to be in.
Its been around 14 months since we moved into ‘The Haxby’. As with every newbuild home there were things that needed some attention but for the most part our snagging list was relatively little. Its been a smooth journey from start to finish with ‘Beal Homes‘ and i would defiantly recommend them for there customer service and attention to detail. The amount of choice we had in the build of our forever home was amazing, which isn’t something you get with most house builders.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading through our journey and that you continue to follow me through the many re-decorating stories that will no doubt follow.
