Nursery Tour.

After many years trying for a baby, longing to decorate a nursery and buy all things baby related the time finally came last year when we finally became pregnant! I couldn’t wait to be able to do a nursery tour so being the impatient woman i am i couldn’t wait to get started. We knew we were expecting a girl from early on so i began filling up my Pinterest with pretty ideas.

I had a vague idea of what i wanted. Pretty pastels, nothing too babyish. I wanted it be a calm and relaxing room, that she could spend many years in before i got the ‘itch’ to redecorate.

I was around 20 weeks pregnant when we started decorating. We had purposely left this room vacant when we moved in in March 2016, as we knew this would be our future nursery. We didn’t know at the time that our first round of IVF would work. The walls were painted in Dulux ‘Almond White’ as was the rest of the house. The ‘rules of a newbuild’ say you shouldn’t paint your house until after at least a year but of course i couldn’t take any notice. I wanted to add a little colour so decided to paint it with Dulux ‘Apple White’.

The furniture was called “Florence’ by Mamas and Papas – which is no longer available.

I bought some really cute prints from etsy and had them printed.

Unfortunately, the wardrobe was 1cm too big for the alcove we had in the room. Frustrating i know! Luckily my dad is an all round handy man who can pretty much do anything you ask him too. So he built in a closet to the space and added some shelves. In here i keep all her blankets, her laundry basket, and all the other bit and pieces i didn’t want on show.

I love organisation. So i bought some IKEA drawer storage boxes to keep everything neat and tidy. Available here.

The bedding we chose was from Mamas and Papas. I love this store! Its the Millie and Boris collection. Available here.

I add a cute shelf from IKEA above her changing station and a lamp in the corner to fill the space. (Also from IKEA). I also used some IKEA spice racks, which i painted in an ivory satin paint, to display all her books. Shelf, Lamp, Spice Racks.

I wanted to add a pop of colour into the room so decided on these dusky pink curtains from NEXT. I also had a blackout roller blind from Dunelm installed for when she eventually transitions into this room. Available here.

Lastly i had this really cute print made from a store on eBay. Available here.

I loved decorating this room. Id longed to do it for so long. I often have a little ponder in there and can’t quite believe we finally have a nursery in our house. I hope that i can keep it as it is for at least a few years before my re-decorating tendencies kick in again. I hope you’ve enjoyed this nursery tour.

I have added links to everything that is still available to buy.
